Comparing satellite & balloon climate data corroborates slower rate of global warming -Author: University of Alabama in Huntsville Date Published: May 1,2003 Using NOAA satellite readings of temperatures in the lower atmosphere, scientists at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) produced a dataset that shows global atmospheric warming at the rate of about 0.07 degrees C (about 0.13¡ Fahrenheit) per decade since November 1978. If correct, these findings invalidate many climate models which are based on the assumption that the observed warming trend has been much greater since 1978.
Natural History -Author: Sallie Baliunas Date Published: 5-30-2003 Man's instrumentally measured record of global temperature is insufficient as it dates only to the mid-19th Century. But nature's historical record, when coupled with other human historical information, goes back much further. The historical record - both man and nature's - does not support the view from catastrophism and that the relationship between human made greenhouse gasses and global warming could be coincidental.
Climate Models Off By 40 Degrees -Author: global warming.org Date Published: September 4,2002 A study in the August 28 issue of Geophysical Research Letters finds that there is a serious error in the global circulation models when it comes to predicting temperatures in the Earth's polar regions. Current global circulation models apparently over predict the amount of down-welling, because they show warmer temperatures than we observed
Testimony of Dr. John Christy Before the U.S. House of Representatives' Committee on Resources Volume 6, Number 22 -Author: Dr. John Christy Date Published: 13 May 2003 "In simple terms, CO2 is the lifeblood of the planet. The vegetation we see around us would disappear if not for atmospheric CO2É.Will increases in CO2 affect the climate significantly? Are significant changes occurring now? Climate models suggest the answer is yes, real data suggest otherwise."
Global Terrestrial Productivity in the Last Decades of the 20th Century -Author: Sherwood, Keith and Craig Idso Date Published: 6-11-03 In the latest issue of Science, Nemani et al. (2003) present the results of a study of global vegetation response to all of these dire phenomena, as well as every other supposedly bad thing that happened over this period, such as illicit logging, fires, storms, etc. Based on satellite observations of vegetative activity over the period 1982 to 1999, their findings are most revealing. Rather than depicting a terrestrial biosphere in collapse, however, they reveal just the opposite, i.e., a terrestrial biosphere that is growing ever more robust.
Global Warming In Brief The Global Warming Debate -Author: globalwarming.org Date Published: November 2000 The president's position is based on the idea that global warming is real and that it is caused by human activity. Further, it presupposes that the potential damage caused by global warming would greatly outweigh the damage caused to the economy by severely restricting energy use. Gives several responses suggesting greenhouse gasses are 98% natural, global warming is good, and if CO2 reducing policies don't include developing nations, the result will likely be a reallocation of emissions to developing nations, not a reduction of emissions.
Human Contribution to Climate Change Remains Questionable -Author: S. Fred Singer Date Published: April 20,1999 The principal focus of climate science is certainly atmospheric science and meteorology, but the subject is so complex that it involves many other areas of the earth sciences, as well as different disciplines, such as physics, chemistry, and even biology. This complexity makes climate science both fascinating and controversial. It also undergoes rapid change as new facts and analyses emerge. Yet, public interest in the possibility of climate change due to human activities has become so intense that the subject has to be addressed even before final judgments are possible.
Glacial-Interglacial Climate Cycles (The Last 2,000,000 Years) -Author: Center for the Study of Carbon Dioxide and Global Change Date Published: 28 May 2003 Throughout earth's geologic history, major ice ages have occurred over and over again, with ten of them affecting the planet in the past one million years (Erickson, 1990) and another ten in the million or so years before that (Whyte, 1995). Indeed, they recur almost like clockwork at approximate 100,000-year intervals and persist for about 90,000 years, after which they are followed by approximate 10,000-year interglacials.
Global Warming "Consensus" Claim Doesn't Hold Water -Author: The National Center for Public Policy Research Journalists increasingly are reporting that scientists have reached a consensus on global warming. Close examination of the evidence cited to support these claims, however, reveals that such claims simply don't hold water. Article claims that the United Nation IPCC report suggesting a "discernible human influence" on climate change didn't have the consensus that many media sources and green house gasses adherents claim.
El Nino Tectonic Modulation in the Pacific Basin -Author: Bruce Leybourne Date Published: Nov. 2001 Publication presents multiple lines of evidence linking tectonic dynamics to the El Nino Events.
Methane Explosion Warmed the Prehistoric Earth, Possible again -Author: NASA Goddard space flight center Date Published: December 10, 2001 A tremendous release of methane gas frozen beneath the sea floor heated the Earth by up to 13 degrees Fahrenheit (7 degrees Celsius) 55 million years ago, a NASA study confirms. While most greenhouse gas studies focus on carbon dioxide, methane is 20 times more potent as a heat-trapping gas in the atmosphere.
